Norman was born in 1949. He studied Art and design at Bristol before qualifying as a teacher and travelling extensively in India and the Far East. Following three years working in Western Australia he returned to Englad in 1987 to paint professionally.

Norman is best known as a pastel artist and is a member of the Pastel Society and regularly exhibits at The Mall Galleries.
